Battlefield 3 Pre-Order Bonuses and Benefits
Being an avid gamer these days takes quite a bankroll. It seems like every time you turn around there’s another must-have title launching. Given the significant release prices on most games these days I usually wait for a little while before picking up my copy of a newly released game. Waiting just a few weeks after the release you can usually hop on Craigslist or hit up your local GameStop and save a good $20 bucks or so easy.
Then, every so often, a new game emerges and blows my mind so fully that I just can’t help but jump on the pre-order band wagon. For me, Battlefield 3 is one of those games.
The incredible visuals and seamless gameplay flow make this a must-have for my 360 library – and waiting around for the price to drop just isn’t an option this time.
After reading all the uproar in the gaming community about pre-order bonuses, especially the anger around the UK releases getting the ‘unfair advantage’ with the exclusive Physical Warfare Pack, I decided I needed to shop around and investigate who really is offering the best pre-order benefits.
Here’s what I’ve found so far. (feel free to help me out in the comments if you find some others)
All pre-orders are Limited Edition
The limited edition versions include the first DLC expansion pack, “Back to Karkand”, for free! While this content will be available to everyone at the same time, the expansion will be free to those who pre-order. The expansion includes…
- Access to unique vehicles & weapons popular in Battlefield 2
- 4 legendary Battlefield 2 maps, re-invented with all new visuals
See our recent post – Battlefield 3 Expansion: Back to Karkand – for more details.
EA’s Origin store
- Limited Edition (see above)
- Unlock Battlefield 3 Edition 870 Combat Shotgun & Beret
Amazon.com
- Limited Edition (see above)
GameStop
- Limited Edition (see above)
- Exclusive weapon (details undisclosed as yet)
- Exclusive map (details undisclosed as yet)
- Week 1 XP bonus in multiplayer
GAME & GameStation (UK)
- Limited Edition (see above)
- Physical Warfare Pack (see below)
The Physical Warfare Pack
- Type 88 LMG (light machine gun)
- Day-one access to the DAO-12 semi-auto shotgun
- Armor-piercing Flechette rounds for the DAO-12 semi-automatic shotgun
- SKS sniper rifle flash suppressor weapon mod
This DLC will be free to everyone, but will be available early to those who pre-order (per DICE General Manager, Karl Magnus Troedsson)
So where are YOU going to pre-order Battlefield 3?
Personally I’m going with the GameStop option – I need all the bonus XP I can get to try and keep up with you guys that play 24/7. Plus I dig the Power Up Reward Points. Will you be pre-ordering Battlefield 3? Where will you pre-order from? Let us know in the comments below!

Pre-ordered mine today as well. Battlefield 3 looks sick and I can’t wait to play it. Did I hear October is the release date?
I have pre-ordered this from Amazon and being from the UK myself I am pretty gutted that we have a lack of decent DLC. Even the DLC that we get from pre-ordering from Game, like you said will be free anyway.. So why not pre-order from Amazon at a price guaranteed price so if it does drop (Which I doubt it will as it’s already £38.91) and wait for the DLC.
Amazon have updated.
Basically it says you get 8 exclusive multiplayer skins if you buy via amazon.
In the uk, i have this option:
